    feeding a fishless tank

Ok everyone a question on the second week of a 8 week fishless ich starving cycle and noticed my protein skimmer no longer removes anything. Is this normal and should I still be adding little food to keep bacteria going? Thanks for any advice 125 gallon tank 5 snails 3 blue legged hermits

It's possible that the skimmer doesn't have much to remove from the water due to the decrease in bioload. You should continue to add bits of food every couple of days to feed both the bacteria and the other life in the tank. Only six more weeks to go huh? The time will fly by especially if you spend most of it researching and dreaming of what you want the tank to be.
I believe Leebca's Setting Up a FOWLR Aquarium sticky has a section on feeding a tank with only the CUC.

Thanks again James there is so much to read on this sight sometimes is overwhelming. I think after reading that link that my poor hermits will be heading back to the fish store.I know your fairly new to this but you have helped me so much I want to say thank you. Your patients and being able to see results of that in your tank have helped me extremely. I now have decided to wait and let my tank mature into next year before I add any fish or coral. Again thank you for all the advise and pictures and updates of your tank. You should get and award for putting up with my ignorance Haha also I will try to post some pics soon but I do all my internet through my phone posts, pics, reading ect so I will have to set up my computer again I have some pictures I took with my phone of limestone base rock in my tank with green and purple spot starting to appear think it might be coralline not sure. Would like a few opinions though try for this tonight. Been meaning to post them but had main drain at my house collapse and been digging a lot yay! Joys of buying a house I guess

I'm always glad to try and help whenever I can. I definitely understand about the information overload that comes with reading posts and stickies on reefland. There's a lot of info but it's priceless. I always find myself "refreshing up" on things I can't remember just so I'm not surprised when the unexpected happens.
Don't thank me. Thank Reefland for providing a top notch community from which everyone can learn!
