    Old Hitchhiker Snail

The first picture is of a snail that came on the live rock about a year ago. Then it was about the size of a large grain of rice. Now it is about 3/4 of an inch long. Seems to do no harm. Just munches algea. Should I just keep it. They are hard to identify.

The other pictures are just tank shots. I want a bigger tank already!!!

And yes I do have some algea issues but it is getting much better from the addition of the PhosBan reactor.

I would keep it as long as it's not causing any problems. I have read that there are rare occurences of cone snails making it into marine aquariums so keep that in mind if you ever decide to capture it, better safe than dead.

Your tank looks good btw, nice pics too.

Thanks for the complements on the tank. I'm really itching to get a bigger one. Nothing over the top, just something with a sump and a real skimmer. A nice 50 would do real well as a replacement. Then I would have a 20-30gal sump and be able to play with new and bigger toys!!! Trouble is my 29 is doing quite well and I hate to fix what ain't broken. If 30" lighting fixtures were better, I would stick with the 29.

Anyhow...I don't think it's a cone snail based on what I looked at on the net. Let's hope not, but thanks for the input so I could do a little research.

Hope to see some pics of your tank soon. Seems like this forum has shrank a bit since last winter. It's a shame, it is a good place. There were some combative souls on here last year.

No worries man, that's why it's called a discussion forum... Discussions and arguments are never too far apart by nature. Those that get so upset over someone else's opinion that they throw in the towel and leave didn't belong here in the first place, they're much better off sitting in a quiet room, listening to classical music and reading a book. Much better that way for their health and the health of the forum but that's just my $.02

I'll post some pics soon over on my build thread... Had a problem with a heater malfunction one day while I was at work a while back and lost most of my SPS

All the LPS and other livestock made it though and are doing very well. I also added a h. crispa anemone several months back and its doing great and getting BIG, eats like a pig and my clowns are lovin' it!

hey chas! your tank is looking really nice. the last pic of the acan is great! if i took a stab at the snail id, i would guess it to be a collumbelid snail. they are great algae eaters and multiply well in the right conditions.
