Hermit Crab Shells

Hi,

I have two red legged hermit crabs, bought a couple of weeks ago. Both have now burried their way into the sand and have not moved for a couple of days. I've researched this and assume that they are either molting or just adjusting to the new environment.

I've read that there should be plenty of empty shells for the crabs to move into when they are molting, i contacted my local pet store but they do not sell these and have suggested to go online.

Does anyone know of any good sites to purchase empty hermit crab shells? Thanks

I don't know where to buy any in the U.K.

Usually the same vendors that sell hermit crabs will also sell some extra snail shells at the same time for a very cheap price if you ask.

If you have any snails in your tank with shells that your hermit crabs like, they will usually evict (kill) the snails and take over their shells. If they can find empty shells that they find attractive, then they don't have to go to all the trouble of killing any snails.
