What tbe heck is this?

I got live rock and put in my new 75 gal.tank. I noticed this animal when I was building my reef. Can somebody tell me what it is. I tried downloading a picture but am not a computer guru....hopefully it comes through. If not, the organism looks like a little oblong blob of jelly like material but it has a textured looking covering. Its color is purple and beige and it retracts when touched.

Tough to say without that pic, but maybe colonial tunicates?

oblong blob of jelly thats textered sounds like a frogspawn tentacle but that seems very doubtfull but posible if the live rock came from a reef tank post a pic asap

looks like a snail in a corraline encrusted shell?

does it move at all?

sea squirt posibly it has 2 mouths but id bet more money on a mucel Look at its shape kinda oval like think about a regular mucle that you eatand add some coraline alagee, some species do stick thier mouth out like that so i guess im half and half between muscle and sea squirt

Ya, I'd agree that it's a sea squirt or tunicate.

i would agree it looks like a tunicate or a squirt of some sort. its a filter feeder and it won't hurt a thing. very cool. happy reefing.

Hi schoppie ; Yes I agree with sea squirt and turnicate. I had an orange one about three inches hitchhike in on my live rock. This is why I love this hobby! Happy Reefing!

It appears to be sessile, as it has not moved from the spot pictured. I was curious though, so I touched it. When I did it retracted.

And, thanks for helping me with the post. We'd really like to know what it is. We're thinking it's some kind of sponge but are not sure!
