    frogspawn coral looks fleshy

i have a single stalk frogspawn coral was fine yesterday all of a sudden today it looks fleshy with about half of it not extending, its been in thier for months . so i havent witnessed any fish niping at it but i am not sure what else could be hapening my torch and hammer dont look bad so i dont think its conditions as they are related very closely lol seems 1 coral gets well and 1 gets sick or dose this happen before spliting or something

Btw by fleshy i mean it looks like a piece of shrimp/ krill chewed up but its where half the tentacles should be . im not sure how else to explain it

Cool Re: frogspawn coral looks fleshy

Hi Jessie ; Did your frogspawn fall off the rock or get knocked upside down on the sand ? That would cause the damage or even a snail could have made it close up. Make sure it is not getting stung by another coral. How are your water perameters? Nitrates and phosphates? How about your salinity?

    Re: frogspawn coral looks fleshy

nothing hapened overnite or in the last fewdays that would cause a isue that way or my torch and hammer would show signs i think. it hasnt been moved for a month i took reef epoxy and surounded its base in december just so it wouldnt fall ill test tomorow and post that in my thread on water parameters. tomorow i will start the ro i still am trying to find a good spot for it so i think im gonna take down a mirror and move it over and secure the ro there didnt want to run it without it being mounted. it was looking awsome like 3 days ago tentacles huge ect just to give a idea how sudden this is. and my livestock hasnt changed for a month other then a few emeralds hermits snails 2 sepent stars and 2 cleaner clams all of witch shouldnt cause any issue with this coral and were added as cleanup crew only no fish have been added since a cleaner wrase and all of them are perfectly healthy and voracious eaters imho showing good health

by nothing hapened in the last few days i mean anything out of the odinary

    srry for typos lol

Oooo Jessie ; I got an emerald crab one time and it chowed down on my first pink open brain coral . I was not happy at all so get rid of that destructive crab. Good Luck catching him. Happy Reefing!!!!!!

Unhappy Re: frogspawn coral looks fleshy

Hi Jessie ; They are easy to catch , just make a trap out of a soda or gatorade bottle , add some frozen thawed out food and lean the opening up against the rock and when they fall into the bottle they cannot climb out , they just keep sliding back to the bottom of the bottle. Get them out of their , do not trust those emerald crabs they are up all night munching on what ever they can get their claws into!!!!

Check that heater. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to submerge the head. is there room in the sump for it?

Not much going on with algae...that's good. With the nitrate and phos issues you had, that could have been a big deal.

    Re: frogspawn coral looks fleshy

the heater is a submersible but i didnt want it in the sump cause if the water level drops and it dose from evaporation it will crack and i will have a very shocking expierience. i knew i was makeing my tank sound worse then it was

Hey original if you have facebook add me or something i have 2 videos that i just uploaded that show my whole set up and the ro
