i had one with 6 arms on my liverock that i found so far it has not apeared to cause any issues but i have no idea what it is specieswise

Welcome to Reefland Brianh ; I think that is a cushion star and they eat corals but I may be wrong. You could keep an eye on it and let it grow and trade it if it does not eat your corals. Happy Reefing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this hobby!

I have something similar, i'm almost postive that its a sandsifter. I got liverock and a bout a dozen of them showed up after a few months. no damaged yet(event though i just have a FOWLR) and they eat algae![]()

Looks to be, but not 100%. I've had a couple since I started my tank with no issues. They appear to only be interested in algae, particularly coraline.
