    A New Clown

hey all! so, ive completed my transfer from the 75 to the 180 and banished the maroon to the fuge(46 bowfront with plenty of room) and now am thinking of what to replace him with. Ive looked at lots of clowns and although think they are killer looking, the high price ones just arent gonna happen. i really like the black and white percs, and the true percs but see other clowns that interest me. i dont want to have the experience that i went through with the roon as far as aggressiveness and destruction of corals. the roon is lucky i didnt throw him on a slice of bread and have him as a snack... anyway, anyone have suggestions from their xp as to a great clown to add for my rbta?

Thumbs down Re: A New Clown

I've had a pair of true Percula Clownfish in my tank for 4 months now and the only coral my male clown rubs in is my torch coral otherwise they do their own thing

I've had a pair of Ocelaris about that long, and same thing. They don't bother, nor are the bothered by the other fish. I have a large GBTA, large toadstool, and a large frogspawn...you'd think they'd be happy to choose at least one of them for a residence, but no.

I think the key to happy clowns is having a pair then or having an anemone host. In my friend's tank there is a single female maroon clown and she moves a coral in the tank every day

My little male false perc nips at my arm if I get too close to the nem but otherwise, I couldn't ask for a better pair of clowns. They even like posing for pictures and don't even flinch when my little girl, nephew and niece are running around flailing their arms.

Fin. Your clowns haven't hosted? Mine did the same day I put them back into the DT. Sounds crazy, but I taped a picture of a clown hosting a bta to the glass the first time I had them in QT. I'm not saying it worked but it sure didn't hurt anything.
