when should i finish removeing the bioballs and the power filter off my system

i was curios has enough time gone by since i removed the first batch of bio balls to remove the rest i did this in early january i belive. also should i wait another month to remove my power filter. im worried that if i remove it it will cause a spike in amonia and or nitrites and more so of a chance if i removed the bioballs at the same time.

also im thinking of geting a 10 or 20 gal tank to sit under my tank to act as a refugium but i cant really find any pumps that are small enough ( i dont want to create alot of flow rite) but my plan is to have 1 pump in the sump that goes to the refugium and one that goes back to the sump . also i noticed a odd behavior yesterday from my cowfish he actualy squirted water out of the tank kinda wierd and cool im guessing that he did it just so i would feed him but then wouldnt i see it more

Re: when should i finish removeing the bioballs and the power filter off my system

hey im starting to get a small alagee breakout kinda redish/maroon in color im only geting it on rocks theres no alagee on glass anywhere( snails must be doin thier job sorta)

i plan on removeing either more of the bio balls or the power filter soonish ( the powerfilter has a cartidge called bio max should i put that in the sump and ditch the rest or ditch all of it) btw water parameters seem to be normalizeing now adimitily its slow but it is progressing i think my levels have been wacky cause i removed almost half my bio balls at once then added live rock to the dt to compensate the loss to the bio filter amazinglly i havent lost a single fish since the regal angel . i did loose a cleaner shrimp but that was to a eel.
for some odd reason im beting a almost white/brown film] on the trashcan where i mix my water after its emptied out not sure what thats about i keep rinsing it out
