Hello Everyone! This is my first time posting here...here goes...
I have a 125 gallon salt tank that has been up and running for about a year. There isn't much in it now except the following: about 90 pounds live rock, large finger leather, 8 ricordea, star polyps, frog spawn, flower pot, mushrooms, brain coral, pink tube anemone, 2 black clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 aero crab, a few hermits, and some turbo snails.
Recently I've had a few problems:
1) a lot of brown hairish algae on the live sand
2) aptasia-suddenly, many of them, and getting pretty large
3) These ugly snail/slugs appearing out of nowhere, they are pretty large too, some about an inch long. I think they may be stomatella? see pictures below-are they good, bad or other? 3 months ago there were zero, tonight I counted 28.
4) white stuff all over the aquarium glass. Maybe snail eggs (I don't think so), maybe fan worms?...something! picture below.
5) My frogspawn isn't doing that well. I've had it about 9 months, but recently it started not opening very much, and has 'spider webs' all over it...maybe its dying? someone told me this was a defense mechanism...looks like its dying.
I do a water change every 2-4 weeks, the leather, star polyps, and mushroom have been growing like crazy. The ricordea have survived, but not grown. All my levels are normal. I bought the aero crab in an attempt to rid the tank of aptasia, but all he seems to do is pick on the pink tube anemone, ricordea, and star polyps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Here is a shot of some of the algea thats growing along the bottom.
Not sure if its recognizeable, but here is a shot of aptasia in the middle of this rock (there are about 10 more in the tank), its about an inch in diameter.
snail things congragating in the back of the tank (only a small portion of those actually in the tank)
