    Hi you all!

New to this forum and wanted to say greeting to yall from the great up north...Upper Michigan, it's cold.... Love all things aquatic and hope to learn some new tricks and possibly throw some advice out there too. Just started a new 72 gallon bow front built it into the wall, with live sand and argonite substrate, live rock from live aquaria (already cured it) and have added my first softie a capenella (Kenya tree coral) from live aquaria in Wisconsin with the usual snails plus shrimp scarlet cleaner, fish 4 blue green chromis, 2 ocellaris clowns and a mated pair of fire dartfish. All doing great! I know it's a bunch of common unchallenging group but haven't had a tank in few years and wanted to start with the easy's first. Besides it's a lot more fun for a hobby to go good rather than bad, no worries, and these fish are beautiful and forgiving in their own right, what more can a man ask for. Looking to add a couple yellow headed jawfish to complete the tank, I know some out there will think this is maxed out already but the sump is 55 gallons and it's a very peaceful bunch. Don't think 2 more will degrade water quality at all, change 25 gallons every other week. Anyone out there have jawfish? Would appreciate any knowledge about their care you can give (have read alot about them), have never had 1 and think the world of these fish. Please drop me a line...BEST HOBBY IN THE WORLD IN MY OPINION!

    Hello and welcome to Reefland!
Yellowhead Jawfish can make a great display fish that become quite endearing. They like a deep substrate of at least 4" of fine sand with some pea sized rocks or shells to construct the walls of their burrow. When selecting a specimen be sure it is eating, the eyes are clear, and there are no dark spots on the sides. When first introduced they may select a spot where you will have difficulty seeing or feeding them but in a month or two if you feed from the same spot each time they will move to where you feed and remain in the location for years if undisturbed. They like meaty foods such as mysis shrimp.

    Cheers,

    Re: Hi you all!

I don't have any information on jawfish but wanted to welcome you to reefland! I hope you stick around for a while. Maybe start a build thread so we can track your success (tons of pics are a must).
