    Unhappy burned leather

    Hey everyone,

yesterday I woke up to find my toadstool leather leaning waaayyy over, resting on my heater. The leather now las a spot on it about a quarter inch wide by an inch long on the top of it. Is there anything I should do about this? should I cut the burned section off him or will he heal on his own? The other side of the head still has tentacles sticking out so I think he will survive but he doesn't look good.. any thoughts?

I'm sorry to hear about you poor toadstool. That's a tough call, huh? I would be inclined leave it alone to prevent further stress...with one caveat. If necrotic tissue spreads from the burn site, I might try cutting out the affected area, (with a sterilized surgical blade, as long as its close to an edge, and doesn't require totally hacking it apart) and then dipping it in a coral antibiotic solution. I would try to shade that area from intense reef lighting for a while too till it heals.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

    Thanks Fin,
I'm just going to watch it and see how it looks. The stalk is still fat and healthy looking and during the day half of the tenticles are coming out so I think it will be ok. It's just so sad I feel helpless. poor fella

Here are a couple pics I took tonight when the lights were off.. you can really see the burns in two spots.. it's just awful.
