    Unhappy Power Outage losses.

Some time yesterday while I was working, the power for my whole neighborhood went out for at least 7 hours (due to the electric company messing up when changing the poles) and I was wondering if there would be any way to get them to credit some of my losses?
I recall people successfully getting credit for the marineland stealth heaters, but I don't think an electrical company would do the same would they? Well regardless, RIP all my long time fishes

That sucks man. So sorry for your losses. I doubt you'll be able to go after the electric company though.

I figured as much, but doesn't hurt to ask.

    Re: Power Outage losses.

I know I am chiming in a little late, but something similar happened to me. We had a power outage that lasted 22 hours. I was able to run a power inverter from my car to the tank to keep one heater and a single powerhead running. I still lost a full grown porcupine puffer and a medium flame angelfish.

I called the power company and filed a claim with them immediately. Everyone I talked to during the outage and afterward told me that they would not be responsible, but they took my complaint anyway. About a week later an adjuster called and said he had no problem paying my claim ($251) if I sent him proof of the value of the fish. In my case the rest of my neighborhood had their power restored in under 8 hours, and the technician went on a break without passing off his work to anyone else. My house and a handful of others were out of power for nearly a full day.

Your situation might be similar, because they caused the outage rather than weather. It's a least worth a call.

That makes me feel a lot better knowing that some credit was given at least. Maybe I should've called them instead of sending them an email
