API
They have been around for some time and have a good rep.
I'm still trying out different brands.
I use API for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and PH and calcium. I will be moving away from API for calcium as the margin of error is too high for my liking, and I'd like a higher resolution. I'll probably give Salifert or Elos a shot next.
I would also like to ditch the API PH test liquids in favor of a PH monitor/probe. You can do standalone monitors, or get them with a reef controller. I like to see how my ph fluctuates throughout the day and evening...that's a pain in the butt with liquid test kits, and the color keys are sometimes difficult for my eye to qualify.
I use Salifert for Alk and Magnesium. I like those a lot.
I use Red Sea for phosphates, but it's pretty useless in terms of resolution. It goes, 0, .1, .2, .3 etc...I would like to have 2 decimal resolution. The Hanna Electronic checkers are supposed to be the way to go for phos, with the resolution I'm looking for.

+1 API
Stupid people do stupid things...smart people outsmart each other.
ok so i use a mix of brands seachem for mag hagen for cal red sea for ph an alk an hagen for dkh
I use API for Cal, Alk, Amm, nitrite, phos, and nitrate. Ph is monitored by my controller. Hard to beat the price for API. I use Salifert for Mag. I've been reading some good things about the new Red Sea Pro line of tests and since I'm almost out of cal tests, I ordered the Reef Foundation Pro kit from Red Sea. I expect it to arrive this week. There were a couple of things that I like about the Red Sea Pro line. There are refill kits available that are cheaper than buying a whole nother kit and another is that the kit comes with a titrator which allows the dispensing and mixing of the reagents with one hand. It also comes in a hard plastic case, instead of a cardboard box like Salifert. The claimed accuracy of the Red Sea Pro kits are either comparable or better than Salifert but I couldn't find all the numbers for Salifert so I'm no 100% on that.
