    Question Strange clam-like animal?

There is an odd little hitchiker on a piece of mushroom rock from LiveAquaria.com that I have had for almost a year. It has a clear shell that looks like 2 tiny coins standing on their edges about 1mm apart. The body is transparent, and looks like a tongue sitting between the shells. It occasionally pokes a tiny siphon out the top of the shell. When it is disturbed, the body vanishes, apparently pulled into a hole in the rock, but I have never seen the shell move. There used to be a lot, but my pistol shrimp buried the rock and this is the only one I have left. The older ones were about 1/2" tall and had a pink tint.

Hey Marine, Google Stomatella Snails and chitons...look like either of those?
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Definitely not one of those. It looks like someone replaced a clam's shell with tiny clear coins standing on their edges. BTW, I clarified my description of the critter

Just found another clam on the same rock. Its shell looks like a regular clamshell, but it has a pattern resembling tiny red and green tiles. Any ideas?

I think the clam-thing may be a windowpane oyster
I really hate it when people say "it's only a $3/$5/$1 fish/shrimp, so it's ok if it dies" TREAT ALL ANIMALS LIKE THEY COST $10,000!!!!!!http://dragcave.net/image/QnMBQ.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/DCQDb.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/8qT9W.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/CP52M.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/P7mZ4.gifplease click a link, it's nothing bad.
