    New to reef keeping

    Maybe some of you more exp keepers can help me out . I started a new tank a little over a month ago . 90 gal 80lbs live sand 100lbs live rock fuge with mineral mud and chaetomorpha with light 1800gph pump and coral life t 5 lights . I have tested my water everyday waiting for an ammonia spike of some sort ...... nothing I have 9 green chromis 9 blue leg hermits 3 pep shrimp 2emerald crabs and some snails .I added everything slowly fish were first to start cycle . I see new coraline growth on rocks but I also noticed som fluorescent pink stuff as well . Can only see it with moon lights on . Not sure what it is .any ideas ?

    Can only see the Pink stuff when the Moon lights are on? Thats a weird one. Pink Corraline does grow, usually Actinics enhance its coloring, like it does with the purple.

    I think it is coraline when the actinics are on it looks like coraline . How long do it usually take for coraline to start growing ? I do have alittle algae growing a's well. I just want to make sure I'm doing things right

    Can't give a time line on Coralline, it just grows when the water is right. If you can easily wipe it off the glass or rock its not coralline, its an algae of some other sort. Coralline you have to physically scrape off.
