Adding caulerpa to a FOWLR. Thinking about seahorses also..

Ok, right now I have a 29 gal tank with 22 lb live rock, 1.5-2'' aragonite live sand bed. The light is a 2 bulb coralife T5 normal output. The tank is about 2 months old. My LFS (I actually work there and am the one who does the ordering) can't really order any live marine plants through the distributor, other than chaeto, and red gracillaria.

After a few hrs of research I think I've found a site I'm going to try: http://live-plants.com (gulf coast ecosystems). It looks pretty legit to me, anyone have any experience with them ( or good websites to suggest)?

I'm looking at adding Caulerpa Mexicana, C. Sertulariodes, and C. Prolifera. I've heard these will do well in lower light conditions. Anyone have advise on marine plants?

I'm also thinking about adding a seahorse or two down the road if plants go well.

What fish do you have? Seahorses do not like strong flow. Bluestripe pipefish don't mind flow, are not shy, and can be convinced to eat frozen BBS. However, they get 3" long and are very thin, so most crabs or carnivores (including some gobies) will eat them.

a clownfish, 2 green chromis, and a scooter blenny. The clown would have to go for seahorses maybe the chromis too.

The only advice I have on most marine macro algae is that once established in your display tank, it will be impossible to get rid of them down the road without starting all over with new rock.
I wouldn't do it if you also want to keep corals, but it could definitely make for an interesting biotope on it's own.
From what I've seen, seahorses seem to do best in low flow tanks without other fish.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not planning on getting corals anytime soon. I want my setup to be easy to move when I change apartments, which seems to happen to me a lot... Plus its not worth spending a ton on good lights if I'm only going to get a few (overpriced) corals from my lfs.

Re: Adding caulerpa to a FOWLR. Thinking about seahorses also..

So I got my macros last night and added them to the tank, they looks great! Live-Plants.com was a great place to buy em from if anyone else is interested. Cheap shipping!
Not sure why macros get such a bad rep. Yeah, its extra work, you have to do your research, and it limits what else you can add into the tank (mainly corals), but doesn't everything you do in saltwater tanks require those things??
