Hey trust. I have tons of amphipods and no problems. I notice them munching on algae and eating food that settles on the sand. I've also caught them eating the shrimp's molt. What corals are being eaten?

+1 on that. I have tons of them too, but I've never noticed them bothering my corals. They come out especially at night to to scavenge on and around corals for detritus and bits of missed food, but they do not feed on the corals.
Which corals seem to be affected? I would think it's something else that's bothering them. Params all good? No redbugs/flatworms asterinas or Nudibranches?

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I know you have some hermits. What kind are they? Got any other crabs in there? I personally think all crabs are evil as they are opportunistic eaters. Some people have seen them eating coral. A while back, I had an emerald crab that ate a cleaner shrimp just after the shrimp molted. Before that, the same shrimp came up missing antenna on one side of it's face. I got rid of the crab before It ate my other shrimp but I don't doubt it would have snacked on a frag or two. Also, I found some nudibranches on one of my zoa frags. They were hard to spot because they were the same colors as the zoas that they were eating. I would suspect other things causing damage to the corals besides the amphipods like the hermits or other crabs if you have any. Maybe spying on the tank throughout the day and even into the night would help you catch the problem.
