Cleaning barnacles off of the glass walls of my tank

I have some hard round things that look kind-of like small barnacles on the glass of my tank. They are really stuck on there. What is the best way to get them off?

Good idea, but isn't there a chance that some razor blades come with a small amount of machine oil left over from when they were made? If so, would that hurt the livestock?

I give razors a rinse in hot water and dry them off with a paper towel before using them. Never had a problem yet. You could also go buy an algae scraper. Either would work. On a side note, you might be seeing tiny feather dusters. I dubt they are really barnacles. HTH.

By the way. Since the razors rust so easily, I toss them after 1 use.

Thanks for the tips . I didn't mean real barnacles, I was just saying that to give you a general idea of what I meant.

Those little round barnacles could be and probably are snail eggs and take 2 weeks to hatch and start moving.

I did notice that a short while after I put 2 snails in my tank, small snails started to appear and crawl around in the tank. I started with 2 snails and now I have about 12. Is it possible for there to be too many snails and if so what do I do about the extra ones? I mean if they just keep having baby snails, is it possible to get a snail neutered so to speak? I mean I don't want to have to flush a few snails down the toilet because there are too many in the tank.

If there is not enough food to sustain them, they will die out. You don't have to worry about flusing them. And to many are always a good thing to have. Since I'm always having to buy mine, you got lucky.
