Lucky Bamboo In a saltwater tank

Has anyone ever put Lucky Bamboo in their fish tank before? If so, how did that work out? I only ask because I have a friend who also has a saltwater tank and he said that he had a nice Lucky Bamboo plant that got real big, then one day he put it in his saltwater tank and the fish ate it down to nothing. In case someone doesn't know what Lucky Bamboo is I have attached a picture.

I know you can do it with Mangroves, but I have never heard of nor seen anyone doing it with a Bamboo.
