    Open Brain Question

I came home to notice wifey had rescued my open brain, but not before my torch coral had presumably stung him. Evidence here:

    Open Brain Question-img-20111007-00129.jpg

The picture, of crappy phone quality, shows fleshy white marks where I am assuming the stinging occurred. These could be stung tentacles - I can't tell with the naked eye, so forget the photo. I am not so sure about my Mickey Mouse diagnosis. Is it toast? Or has this happened to others and it's just a matter of time before it's back to it's swollen self. All other corals look good. Thanks guys and gals!

    Re: Open Brain Question

I appreciate everyone's concern. Really. I am pleased to announce my brain is doing splendid. It's IQ is back up to a torrid 189 and it's expanding daily learning new factoids about quantum physics and deep space probes. Again - thanks y'all.

    Re: Open Brain Question

    Hello,
It's always touch and go (with a few exceptions) when a coral gets stung by another coral. Sometimes they die in a few hours, other times they are scarred for long periods, and sometimes they bounce back quickly. Often it depends on which corals interact and how healthy the loser is before the interaction. Yours looks like it was quite healthy before the incident. Torch corals require at least a 6" buffer zone from their neighbors.

Thanks. I kind of figured that. I just post things sometimes b/c I don't come across those topics as frequently.

Hey Chris. I woulda replied but since I have no first hand experience in the matter, my input would have been worthless .
