That is what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation. Water change is complete. 1 hr after change ph 7.8 morning. It is always on the low side of ok in the mornings it seems. Amonia, trites, trates all 0.00. Salinity is 35 ppt. Looks good for an addition today I think. I also cleaned the filter pad and tray well this morning also. One thing I will have to remember is my RO storage is outside and when I mixed salt last night the water was pretty cool. I turned on the mixing pump this morning and had to wait till the water temp was 76 F before I did the change. Tank temps was 77.6 and the heater kicked on for about an hour. Tank dipped below 77F and the heater kicked on and stablized it very quickly. I have an extra heater so I next time I will be better prepared.

Last night we added a flame angel which I really did not want in the reef but wife loved it and wanted it. As I explaned earlier in another thread both I and the LFS I found that is great, tried to discourage her and we had a talk that it may have to go back unless we are very lucky. She understand that and the LFS wrote we could return it for full price anytime on our reciept.

LFS gave us 3 coral frags to start. Yes I mean for free. Candy cane, a small rock with both a green stripe mushroom and a Kenyan tree leather, green star polyp, and told us what to do with them. The green star polyp has yet to open up. My Jewel Damsel is not happy about the Flame! LOL We will see since the flame is half her size if they settle in or not. The Jewel may be my ticket out of the Flame. LOL

Ya I know. Since I find it easier for her to be excited about this build than not, I will be on the watch to remove it. That she understands and just wanted to try. Oh well, easier if I can blame the fish later. LOL

Cool Re: My soon to be 72gal bowfront reef

Backing up and rethinking since ich took my initial stock of fish rapidly. I now have my 29 fowlr set up and running as a QT. Believe it or not even though I was sure all fish had died, last night a Dispar Anthias showed up in my DT and looks perfectly healthy and is eating. Amazing! I had just wrote him off to the 2 of the 9 fish I never was able to find even after breaking down part of the reef to look. Crazy! DT Am,Ni,Na, ph, and Phos, all looked good as of last night and I am testing the DT every other day this week to make sure it remains stable. I am running the DT as normal with all maintenance being done during the wait for the inverts and corals. I intalled the UV filter in the DT since I had it already and figured it isn't going to hurt.

Anthias is being moved to the QT to treat while the 72 DT sets fishless for 45 days. I plan on treating all new arrivals prophalacticly with Paragaurd and keep all fish isolated 6 weeks before moving to the DT. I have ordered Paraguard and Cupramine so I will have a choice as to treatments based on the new arrivals observations. I have read reviews on both these medications and understand that Paraguard is a broad spectrum med and Cupramine is the choice med for ich. Both claim to cure ich, can not be used together, but if spots become evident I will use Cupramine. The QT is set at 1.15 salinity for now and it is being fed a very small less than a pinch of food to keep the biofilter active. Temp is set at 76F for now. It is running a HOB filter with simple particulate filter only. A small 250 gph nano pump is in the tank to aid circulation. Lighting is minimal with plans to only use during feeding and observation. A 200 watt heater and trusted thermometer rounds out the QT equipment. It is bare bottom with a ceramic coffee mug my daughter got me that says Picces, and a few short links of PVC on the bottom for the fish. I am testing the QT daily for all the basics. 30 gals of RO are being kept on hand for quick water changes should it be needed.

What bases do I still need to cover?
