Orange algae growing like crazy on my Glass!!!

I have been fighting with this algae for weeks and the only thing that gets rid of it is scraping it off which takes forever and then it will be back within a few days!! Please help me!! I just want it gone it looks so ugly!!

Sounds like both your problems are Phospahte issues. You using tap water to fill the tank? Either switch to RO/DI, and or install a phosphate reactor.
What kind of lights are you using? And how old are they?

My lights are less that 6 months old and it is a Aquaticlife 4 bulb system with an automatic timer. Yes I am using tap water, but I cant afford to buy any water because I am in University

Welp, then your looking at a Phosban Reactor, or algae problems.

You can use caullgan water at walmart or order it. its not that much. I get two 3gal jug its 3 bucks. just make sure where you get it is monitored monthly.

Depending on the size of the tank of course. Because I change 55 gallons in mine at a time, I'm not going to walmart to get all that water.

I am still struggling with this algae I scrap it off the glass every week by it just keeps coming back, it is especially blanketing the back wall of my tank. Any thing else that I can do?? Im getting quite frustrated with this stuff!

Hmm. I have to clean my glass twice a week. So, is it just the glass thats getting you frustrated? No matter what tank you run, there is always going to be algae growing on the glass to a certain extent.

Are you sure it's not coraline?

Mine? Or his? LOL. some of mine if Coralline, definately. But I don't consider that a problem algae.

For one Im not a him :P And second i had snails and all but one died, and it will grow back within a couple days. I am also getting a pinkish one on the glass and in my sand.

He's using Tap Water Chris, gonna be a hard one to get rid of. Gonna have to get a filter added to your sysem, putting GFO in it. That is the only way you are going to getr rid of this stuff, unless you stop using tap water. And I have experience doing what you rdoing, I used tap water for over 5 years, I have sponge and slime and weird algae growing all over everyting. It went away with RO/DI water, then hair algae takes over with phosphates. Gotta get a handle on both things, or it will not go away.

how big is your tank? i see you have 2 clowns a blue hippo and a yellow clown.

Ah. Didn't realize that. I understand now. I used to use tap also, but my water only tests 67 TDS. I wonder if that is why I never got algae in my brackish setup.
