Crabs coming out of the live rock

I have started up my first aquarium this weekend, and have added sand, rock, live sand and live rock and is waiting for tank cycle right now =)

Yesterday I saw a little white, tough looking crab stretch its arms for the food I put into the tank. Today I saw a larger black crab. Bit scared these will kill the few nerite snails that also came out of the liverock. =x Little white one is not scary yet.. the black one looks like 1.5" from clawtip to clawtip =X ...big monster

Any suggestion what kind of crab these are? I am not sure =X (not been able to foto them =X)

To tough to call. Gotta have a picture. There are way to many crabs to take a stab at this one. But maybe you can ID them yourself.

Got a feeling they are xanthidae crabs. What to do, what to do

Green or dark colored ones might be Emerald Crabs. If they look like the Xanthidae one. Never heard of anyone having those. But ya never know.

Based on information in the "clean up crew" article here on reefland and in the link you posted (thanks!) ... Guess I have to blame myself if the crabs break stuff... I am worried they will hurt corals and fish =X

Not so much the fish, tehy still have to catch them. But your corals could get eaten if its the wrong crab. Some crabs will mow them down.

Ok, when I came home late yesterday, I saw the black monster just relaxing outside his cave He looks exactly like the Xanthidae crab, first picture in the link you gave me. The little white one is so tiny it is hard to tell for me... Emerald or xanthidae...

I will try to catch them and put them in the deepsandbed macroalgae sump... The black one I will try to catch the next time he falls asleep in the open :P
