Alright, so i'm setting up a reef. I got like 100-110 lbs or live rock from my LFS for my 100g tank. it has been 3 weeks since I started the aquarium, and I left all 100lbs of live rock inside the main tank. I have been reading around, and I found that I should leave about 50-60 lbs in the main tank, then leave the rest inside the sump. I do NOT have a refugium. I am not going to have one either. But, since I have all that rock in the main tank, can I put the live rock into any chamber of my sump? I have a 3 chamber sump, 1.'return pump', 2.'protein skimmer + phosban', 3.'return pipe' (water from main tank to the sump). There is plenty of room in the 'return pipe' chamber. Not much room in the 'protein skimmer + phosban', nor 'return pump' chambers. Can I put about 40-50 lbs of live rock into my 'return pipe' chamber? Without sand, just live rock with diatoms + algae on it. (should I rinse the Live rock before putting it into the sump?
