Alright, so i'm setting up a reef

Alright, so i'm setting up a reef. I got like 100-110 lbs or live rock from my LFS for my 100g tank. it has been 3 weeks since I started the aquarium, and I left all 100lbs of live rock inside the main tank. I have been reading around, and I found that I should leave about 50-60 lbs in the main tank, then leave the rest inside the sump. I do NOT have a refugium. I am not going to have one either. But, since I have all that rock in the main tank, can I put the live rock into any chamber of my sump? I have a 3 chamber sump, 1.'return pump', 2.'protein skimmer + phosban', 3.'return pipe' (water from main tank to the sump). There is plenty of room in the 'return pipe' chamber. Not much room in the 'protein skimmer + phosban', nor 'return pump' chambers. Can I put about 40-50 lbs of live rock into my 'return pipe' chamber? Without sand, just live rock with diatoms + algae on it. (should I rinse the Live rock before putting it into the sump?

Your actually supposed to have 2lbs per gallon in a reef tank. You don't need to put any in the sump. You can, but its not neccesary. Sump is where you want your cheato and other macro algae to grow, which would make it a refugium and not a sump.

I know that, my main question was, can I put my live rock into the return pipe chamber, or ANY of the chambers, inside the sump?

Just be careful about the amount and the position of the LR in the sump. It can be just as counterproductive as bio balls if misused. If the amount or orientation promotes the build up of detritus / excess food/waste, it can lead to high nitrates or phosphates. Both are bad news for a reef tank.
