Live rock, detritus build up, sump

will i need anything before putting random pieces of live rock into my sump? | return pump | skimmer | sump return | <- that is basically my whole sump. would detritus build up and harm my whole aquarium if i put thirty to forty pounds of live rock into the sump return. I have too much leftover live rock from making my aquascape. what modifications should i make to my sump if you think i need any. is a fuge recommended? bytheway the whole sump is 36 gallons.

Not sure why my post didn't show up. What I wad saying was to be carefull about the amount and the position of the LR in the sump. If the amount or orientation of LR in the sump inhibits flow or creates dead spots (areas with low/no flow), you could have problems. IMO, any sized fuge is beneficial for a reef tank. But to truly be productive for dentrification, the fuge has to be as large or preferrably larger than the display tank.
