Hey gang,
Its been a while since I have been on here, but Ill get right to it. If you remember a while back in the summer my tank had a set back. Anyhow, I let it recover, didnt add anything for a while, and then last sat. i saw a nice red sea star and said "hey yeah, ill do it" I read about them, what they eat, how much space in a tank, how long of a tank, and all signs looked good. it was active, still is, and looked ok. Tonight I noticed its tips like decaying almost, Ill post pics below. Anyone have any advice? Tank params are as follows:
SL/g: 1.024 (constantly)
pH - 8.3
Am - 0
Ni - 0
N - 10
phos - 0
cal - 400
kH - 9dkH
Temp - 76-78
this is as of tonight. its a 12 gallon tank. The star was fine last night, but today the only thing differently i did was leave the lights off all day b/c ive also been battling an algae problem, and the lights off actually helped, much less like brownish kind of hairy algea (anyone know what that is?) I get hair algae on the rocks, and like weird brown goo, and then the goo and stringy brown algae on the sand.
Otherwise though, everything is looking good, fish are healthy, corals are growing. I'll post some pictures tom. or sunday after i do a little cleaning on it. Heres the pics of the sea star. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
