Just got my RO/DI SpectraPure MaxCap todayI have been using my LFS's premixed salt "RO" water + drinking filter water for top offs in my reef for the last 5 weeks, when I began my reef aquarium. I have 2 corals, 3 fish in the tank, all of which don't seem to have any problems. (Have one green chromis in there for 2-3 weeks now) and my tank is having algae blooms, everywhere. There are diatoms all over the sand and rocks, when snails and my sea hare eats them, they come right back the next day. Then there is also GHA, TONS. The sea hare cleaned up almost all the green hair algae in the tank, but they are still growing back slowly. Aside from all that, I keep seeing these small white things growing on my LR. please help identify these things: they look like..mochi..if you know what that is
they grow to about a cm long. they are motionless and when I tear them out, they feel really soft and mushy.
And now, I need to get all that stuff making my algae grow, so I need to do water changes. How many water changes do I need to do for my 136 gallon aquarium? (100g up top, 36g sump, i think i only used about 80g TOTAL because of the LR and LS) I will probably get the RO/DI water and salt mixed in about 2 days. IF i can, I will do 25% (around 20g) water changes every 2 days four times. Then it will go back to biweekly 20% water changes. <- Is this enough to get rid of all the bad water content in the reef? should I do more? less?
FYI - I also went out myself to buy 3 'units' of chemipure elite and miracle mud today to remove as much phosphates and nitrates as possible.
