    tank set up

well im finaly ready to start my new reef tank well nearly after out 4 week holiday to canada and a near plain crash on the way home im now only waitng for a couple of bits and bobs the question i have is when set up my tank i plan to fill up with water get the temp and salt right then add my rock.
so when adding rock can i add say 10kg each week or does it all need to be added at one point
the time scale is not really important as i plan to wait at least 6 to 8 months before adding any fish
    cheers paul

Each time you add that much Rock, you will keep you tank in a cycle. It will not come out of that cycle until you have finished adding the rock. But, maybe I should ask, how big is the tank, that will play a roll also. But ,my advise, you be to add it all at the same time, you don't have to. Also, not add any fish for 6 months? WHy is that? After 6 weeks you can basically add fish, once your cycle has finished.

to be honest im not that interested in the fish side of thinks i love the corals and other stuff so i dont really mind how many times it cycles the rock thing is more that i want the best rock i can find and pick out but the lfs are spread over a great distances so in cant really get to them on the same day the tank is 250 lts so i prob only need 25 kg ish of rock but like i said i know which pieces im looking for

For a Reef tank, the recommended Live Rock is 2lbs per gallon. A 250 liter tank would require at least 132lbs of Live Rock. Close to the 121 you were thinking, if we are talking Liters.
