no its nothing like that its more like what i have seen in one of my fresh water tank moss balls but this is even more smooth than that

well ive spent the last 2 hours looking all over the net at algae sponges and squirts and can find nothink like it any where will let it grow for a while and try to take some better pics at some point might let one of my new snails loose near it and if you eats it must be algae

Yup. Looks like a plant to me, and not algae. But...Don't know.
