    Milliput

Hi all, jive just purchased a stunning spider sponge. The local fish shop gave me a marble sized piece of milliput 2 part epoxy to attach to my live rock. The thing is it has turned my water very cloudy and think it peed my fish of a little more my bicolour blennie the anything. Will this clear and be ok in a few hours or so??

Hmm, not familiar with that stuff. The stuff I use does not cloud up the water.

It's similar to that stuff you mold the to together. I've had a fish die on me already my 4 clownfish aren't looking to good either and my bicolour blennie either. Phone call to my lfs shop I think.. I've also read on another forum that if milliput is used and does cloud the water is that it does remove oxygen from the water.

    Re: Milliput

I'd be doing some mass water changes to get that stuff out.

Thanks bud. Really peed of at the shop. If. Anymore of my stock go I will be up there to see what we can do. I've read in places it's meant to be reef safe, righty ok then, never again will I touch this stuff. And recommend it to anyone that does come across it never to use it!! Hopefully all will be ok with the water changes, another water change Tuesday when the shop opens again rather then stress things even more.

Don't need the air stone, your skimmer will provide all the O2 the water can handle. Point your powerheads at the surface of the water, this will promote better gas exchange also.

I just realised that after getting the air pump out and set up. Got power head already aimed at the surface of the water.. Fish looking a lot better now perked up a bit.. Thanks or your help reefing... With this spider sponge I have. I know it like to be fed on phytoplankton. I have nearly a full bottle of marine snow left will this suffice? Because being that it's more 99% water than anything.. Also have a bottle of gamma nutra plus reef feed which has copepods, rottifers and something else in it is this a good feed or could you recommend a better feed for this sponge and corals all round... Thanks

What you have is really good, you just have to watch how much you use, so you don't get the water parameters in an uproar.

Thanks mate, I only dose 2-3ml twice a day. Now I am dosing reef feed into my tank will it be necessary to do small water changes every week now or can I leave it to 3-4 weeks as I was before. But just staying in top of testing,

You'll have to watch your water parameters for that answer. If you start having problems, then youll likely have to do more frequent water changes. I dose once a week. But I only have a few corals.

Once a week, possibly twice. That would be max right now, you don't have enough in there to feed tha much. Unless you spot feed them.

I use to spot feed the anchor but haven't in a while. So just feed the whole tank now. I will start doing that as of from now 2 feeds max a week till i start get more corals in. My lfs has found an Australian coral supplier so happy woohoo . How many corals can be stocked into a tank of 50-55 gallons?? Thanks for all your help reefing much appreciated..

    Re: Milliput

You can stock quite a few corals in there. They do take quite some time to grow, then when you have to frag them, you make a few bucks out of the deal.

Did my first frag today of my anchor coral . Seems to be doing ok so far. Its not the branching kind. The end I done was the piece that the flesh receded from the rest to make it separate.. So chose to do it there. Also on that frag I noticed the other day that it started to recede and half an inch from the end and the bits were floating round the tank., can anyone shed a light to why that might be?
