hermit crabs

ok ive just got 3 new hermit crabs 1 has decided that he is going to be a night owl the other 2 have dicided the they are going to be mountaineers and keep climbing to the highest point in the tank then fight each other until one falls off i done mind this as its pretty funny to watch but is this pretty normal

Yup, no worries. But, what kind of Hermits are we talking about? Red legged, Blue Legged? Other types will figh each other for their shells, they'll kill other snails for their shells. Depends on the crab.

there are little blue buggers they have settled down a little now have be to the beach and collected some small shells today with the kids gave them a good boil where do i place them in the tank just scatter them around

what i have found in hermits is that in the end, one will be alive and anything else with a shell they like will be food for the winner. they seem to kill off any snails or crabs that arent much bigger than they are. i have one small hermit, and larger snails that he leaves alone. then i have other shrimps and crabs to round things out. i just havent had much luck keep moring than one hermit at a time.

well i could be in luck then my snails are like giants compared to my hermits they seem to have sorted them selfs out now they have move to different parts of the tank

Yup, just throw them around. they'll find em sure enough. Blue Legged ones are pretty good guys to keep also.
