Question Last hurdle Temp control problem?

The 72 bow front is running 4 degrees to warm for me. My heater control is not the issue. I have the heater turned off. I would like to run the tank at 78 degrees F. It is running on its own 4 degrees over that. Will a fan over the sump get those 4 degrees are am I asking to much. I really do not want the expense of a chiller.

Might do it. I have 4 fans blowing across the top of my tank water, just cpu 12v fans, keeps my tank at 79.

Thanks! I am thinking about a 4.5 inch 12v clip on that I would clip to the back of the sump stand and blow across the sump.

I bought a 6 inch clip on fan for the sump. I will actually clip it to the back wall of the stand and aim to sump. cfm is 90-130 2 speed. It has a grounded plug but is not low voltage. Amps are 0.2. Most likely if this does it I will put it on a timer and try and run in the heat of the day if I can hold the tank to a 2 degree temp flux. If it works I think I will drill a small hole through the clamp and put a set screw in for added security.

I wouldn't turn the heater off. It's your failsafe against too cool a tank. Snce a good heater has a thermostat, turning the heater off won't buy you anything anyway. I would also get a decent thermometer. I tested a few from lfs and none are entirely accurate. I only trust my fluval heater and the built in thermometer. And for the price I should

I will turn my heater back on tomorrow. Nothin in the tank during the cycle. My thermo is a ITemp probe that I calibrated off 2 other known thermos.
