Snail DIY

My turbo snail is doing something with the substrate. What is it trying to do? This is the second thingy he is building. What is it? Any idea ? Attached pic.

Hello,
The animal pictured is a sand conch most commonly called a fighting conch usually collected from the waters around Fiji. It looks like a pile of waste sand that it has digested the algae, diatoms, etc. from.

IMO they are a great addition to a reef tank. They are long lived and an interesting animal that is fun to watch. They can grow to around 12cm and live 10 years. On average one for every 50 gallons (190L) should keep the sand clean.
