Salinity

What do you keep your salinity at in your reef?

specific gravity measurements are meaningless without temperatures. You can have the same specific gravity at two different temperatures and have widely different salinities and conditions.

Then why do salinity or specific gravity measurement meters not come with coresponding temp spot as well???? Curious mind wants to know?????

Usually specific gravity measurement devices (floating hydrometer, swing-arm, etc.) are calibrated to measure specific gravity at a certain temperature-usually far below reef tank temps.). Some come with directions how to adjust the specific gravity to the temperature you are measuring it at. Even then, the specific gravity you measure doesn't really tell you what your salinity is unless you have a table with salinities at different temperatures and specific gravity measurements-these can be found online.
