Brillo algae ?

Anyone know what the name of this stuff is ?
Anyone else have it and if so do you feed ito your fish ?
I got a little peice of this stuff hitch hike with some caulerpa. I put it into a 15 gal tank and fed some Iron and it grew like gang busters.
I just placed the whole clump into my mangrove sump and suppose it could be fed to the livestock in the main tank and also be used as nutrient export ehh ?
Looks almost like tang heaven but is not because I have some of that growing and it is different.

I have some "Brillo" alga in my refugium. The individual strands on mine are much curlier(more brillo pad like). I don't know about feeding it to fish, because I don't have any fish, but it is a great place for pods to live and breed.

If anyone knows the latin name for this stuff please pass it along. I feel kind of silly calling it Brillo Pad

Looks like Chaetomorpha linum to me or some other Chaetomorpha sp macroalgae. Midland Marine and Inland Aquatics both sell the product. Here's Midland's website on the stuff:

Midland Chaetomorpha sp Page 1

Midland Chaetomorpha sp Page 2

Good stuff for refugiums. Grows fast. Doesn't attach to anything. Doesn't "go sexual" like caulerpa. Easy to harvest. Sucks up nutrients like a sponge.

When I get my refugium up and running I'm getting a handful of this stuff...

Liquid,
Thanks for that info. That seems to describe it to a tee.
It really grew fast and is long and stringy like GREEN mono.
Coolness !!!!
