Post Corals attack...bubbled my wrasse!

I woke up this morning wondering where my new 6-line wrasse was. I noticed that some mushrooms had fallen down on my trumpet coral. When I lifted it up I saw my wrasse in my trumpet branches. It was completely encased in a bubble of slime. He was still alive, and when I grabbed the bubble and wripped it open out be swam. Weird! He unfortunately has some sort of infection, bacterial, his fins are a little cloudy. Hope he makes it! He did eat after the whole ordeal. We will see! What do you think?

Exclamation

Isn't a 6-line Wrasse also called a soap fish. They give off an extra heavy slime coat when agitated or stressed. This slime is toxic and could possibly affect the population.

I might be wrong, it's been a while since I read up on that. You might want to consider getting him over to a hospital tank with lots of good filtration.

Don't feel too stupid...I might be wrong. I'm trying to check my sources, but I'm at work right now with no access to any of my books.

Yep, I'm wrong. The fish I'm thinking of is the 6-line grouper (Grammistes sexlineatus)

Your fish probably did produce the mucus in response to being stung by the coral. I hope he'll be O.K. Sorry for the confusion.
