I have the same slug(?) crawling around in my tank. I've never seen it do anything damaging, just seems to be eating algae off of the live rock and glass. Sometimes it has a thin white stripe down the middle of its back, has yours ever showed this? I've tried to i.d. it but no luck, hopefully this post will help both of us.

looks like a chiton to me. THey are harmless grazers, I have a couple in my ten gallon that I used to confuse with my stomatella varia. Does looks alittle like a turbo snail though.

It is a black elephant limpid. I have his twin in my tank. They are harmless, and eat algae.

Definitely a limpet. I had them in my old 55 gal. soft coral tank. I will warn you, mine multiplied like rabbits.
I ended up picking them out and turning them into my lfs. They have a hard shell and are also very hard to get out. They stick like glue. check out my 120 sps tank: http://suetruett.homestead.com/home.html www.marshreef.org/members |
