how much kalkwasser?

How many mls. per gal per day should I drip? should I drip night only or 24/7 ? Or how often?

What I do....
1 tsp kalk per 1 gal RO/DI
drip rate: 1 drop per second.
Dripping at night is best since it will raise the ph some and ph normally drops at night.. Never dump in kalkwasser (Limewater)

this is what works for me. i use one of those kent aqua dose drippers. i fill it with kalk then drip at night about 1 drop per 2 seconds. every now and then i have to add some calcium like b-ionic.

I mix 1 teaspoon of calcium hydroxide per gallon of RO water. Let this settle for several hours and siphon off clear liquid. I use a LiterMeter to dose the kalkwasser 24/7 to replace all evaporated water.

I have heard you can use up to 2 tsp./gallon, but I have never needed that much. I think to determine how much you need to drip depends on the tank, evaporation rate, coral load and type of corals. If you have an sps tank you will obviously need to drip more or use a reactor. If you have a mixed reef then the ca. level should be able to be maintained by the kalkwasser. HTH..
