^^^^^ Second the Green Mariner's comment about using eggcrate. I have a hamilton hood for my tank and I use egg crate to keep the fish in. Here is a pic of one of my tanks if you look close you can see the egg crate. (not the best pic!)

Anyone ever try a fish net? I've used nets to catch minnows in small creeks before - I wonder if you couldn't take one and pull it over the top of your tank - would prevent the fish/snails from jumping out and permit light to enter.

Post Please help solve this problem...

I am new to reef aquaria (going on 6 weeks now). I have had many FO tanks and never had this happen. That is, fish jumping out of the tank. My tank is in its own room with the front facing our rec room. My hood hangs over the tank and is about 2 1/2 inches above the water.

What do other people do that have a similar setup. Should I move the hood closer to the water? Is there something that can be made that will prevent this and still allow the maxium light penatrate into the water?

Thanks!!

try using 2x4 light diffusing egg crate, this can be found at most hardware stores. It will not prevent any light from entering the tank, so no worries there!
