How many blue chromis for a small school?

I'd like to have a small school of chromis in my 120. I was thinking about 9. Would this be too much for this size tank?

    Currently in my 58g:
    Purple tang (3")
    small maroon clown
    flame hawk
    2 small blue chromis

    I'd like to add:
bout 7 more small blue chromis
1 juvenile power blue or hippo tang

    Sounds like too much maybe?

I dont know with that small of a tank that they would school that much. Try 3-4 more ans see what happens.
I would definitly....not.... add another tang to your tank being it is only a 58 which is considered small for tangs.

I currently have 8 in my 125, they are great. They have been there happy and getting fat for about two years.

I had 10 in a 180. They were scattered from one end of the tank to the other. Biggest waste of space that I ever added to my tank. If I want fish that are scattered, I would have added different fish to look at.
I guess I could have added a grouper or something, then they might have grouped (pun intended ;) ) up for safty.

I have a school of 8 green chromis in my 120 sps tank. They did school at first, but now that they have been in there for over 3 yrs. there isn't much schooling going on. In fact they schooled when we tore the 120 down for a good cleaning 3 weeks ago and afterwards they schooled for a day or 2 til they figured out the new digs. They are a beautiful fish. I just found 8 of the blue reef chromis and have added them to my 180 ecosystem reef. They didn't even school upon being introduced to the system. These don't even hang out together like the green chromis do.

If you are intending to put them in your 120 I don't think that 8-9 is too many. Just be forwarned that they will not actively school after being acclimated to your tank. Or they may not even school then like my blue reef chromis. HTH...

check out my 120 sps tank:
