    Cool Tips and tricks

What are your tips and tricks? here are a few of mine.

    • to remove bristle worm bristles from your hand i have found that a sponge with a scouring side gets em all out in a few minutes
    • as a quick and easy auto topoff for a small tank like my hifin cardinal breeder 10g i use a 16oz upside down sprite bottle

    what are yours???

How does the bottle work? How do you meter water into the tank?

    its so simple,

    (A) shown in the image is the bottle inverted in the cutout i did in the plastic piece that comes with the glass lids.

    (B) is the glass lid

and (C) is the where the water level needs to be for the bottle to work with a salinity of 1.023. once water evaporates below the lip of the bottle, water drops in to maintain 1.023.....hth

Ah. That makes complete sense, same idea that goes with the auto-topping off water dishes for pets.

But how do you manage to get the refilled bottle back into position without hosing yourself and the stuff around you?

This might help others: In my last post I stated that my tank had cracked. The crack was about 1/8 of an inch of causing a leak. I needed to drain the tank fast and luckily I had a full size sump pump on hand attached to a 1.5 inch hose. The tank was empty in a few minutes. I know if my tank was stocked this wouldn't have worked out as well. Also it wouldn't hurt to have an inspection mirror ( a mirror at the end of a telescopic wand) to check behind your tank. If my crack had not happened in the front of the tank I think I would have been in big trouble down the road. Bill

well, I got this from other members but, rubberbands are an excellent way to attach cauperla to rocks when you first get them, it is also good if you dont want gracilaria floating around and then clogging your pumps.
