First coral. (yay)
Well, I got my first coral. I bought a metallic green mushroom coral earlier today. It appears to be really healthy and it has not closed up or anything. However, I did notice one of them doing something that I'm hoping someone knows what it is. One of my snails was plowing along right through them, and one closed up slightly .. it then slowly oozed out a bright yellow-green ribbon of something from it's middle / "mouth". After about 5 minutes, it slowly drew it back inside itself.
Is this how they filter feed? Or is it a defensive reaction of some kind? The snail was pushing into it pretty good, but it didn't react at all when the coral did that, so it didn't look all that defensive. Anybody have an idea? |

that usually happens because of high stress. like when i go to cut mine they do that. nothing to worry about im sure. only when it stays like that then it might die.

Its probably a defence mechonism, they probably use it when other corals get to near them, or I should say the shrooms gets to close to them,
