Queen Conch (Strombus gigas) eggs??
any one have info on the breeding of queen conchs? Last night I saw my smaller queen conch at the end of a "trail" of eggs. And the egg pattern did not look anything like the cerith or nassarius egg patterns. I will post a pic once my mom is done with the camera. Do you think it is possible that they have mated? They are very small (compared to if they were full grown) the smaller one being about 2 1/2" while the big one is between 4 1/2" - 5".

Ok, I found that they have a planktonic larval stage.. and the eggs in the pics look a little different. but who laid the eggs then? the pattern is almost perfectly straight.

THAT is probably snail poop.
S. gigas do not get sexually mature until they are 10-12 inches in length and at least 10 years old. mgk |
