Question Pickling Lime

All,

To use pickling lime as opposed to Kalkwasser, what is the amount per gallon of pickling lime?

Thanks,

Joe

Same as kalkwasser: 1.5 tsp/gal is all that will dissolve at room temperature for the most part. I usually use 2 tsp/gal just to play it safe so I know that I have a saturated solution.

hth,

yep - pickling lime IS kalwasser. Kalkwasser is German meaning literally "lime water". Any form of calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide is considered kalkwasser. I use Mrs. Wages but Balls is supposed to work just as well.

I also use 2 tsp/gal...it's so cheap that I don't care if I waste some.
