Suddenly I am noticing a ton of small white starfish on my rock, glass and sand. I am not sure where they came from. I do remember when I first setup my tank I would occasionally see one and have kept up with him since. I would only see him every few weeks and could see arm growth every now and then. Now there are a ton in my tank, I did have a sand star but got rid of him months ago. These little starfish are only about 1/4 inch long and are just showing a few defined legs. They look like a white burrowing sand star but they only stay in the sand so I am at a loss on what species they are. These guys are going everywhere so I would doubt they are a sand star, any ideas ???

Is this it? If so, you have hydroids. They are a type of jellyfish.

No, looks absolutely nothing like that. They are definitely starfish, have all the same characteristics as a sand star just not as many legs yet.
