What is this creature in my sump?
This is my first post here. I'm new to the hobby. Just started my 90 gallon reef 4 months ago. Just curious what this small creature (there are two in the picture to the left of my pump) is in my sump. I just noticed them a couple of days ago and there are about 50 of them all over my sump.
Thanks |

It's the two white fat things directly to the left of the pump. Sorry, it was the best picture I could get.
Are they harmful, or anything to worry about? They are only in my sump. I haven't seen any in the display tank. |

Not sure but I think they are some sort of sponge. They are not harmful and I have 1000's in my sump. Bob

That creature looks like a Rio 600.
It is very bad for your tank. It is known to crack and fry, releasing current and liquified epoxy into your tank. mgk |

there are ul rated rio 600's that won't do that (I have one). I've not heard of any probs with rios smaller than a 1700.
