refugium for my 18 gal
Hey all, I was just wondering if a 2.5 gal tank /w LS and LR would make a good refugium for my 18 gallon reef set up. Please let me know, thanks!

IMHO I would recommend at least 25% capacity of the main tank. I really think a 2.5g refugium would not be able to handle much of a bio-load...that is unless your supplementing your refugium w/ something like a skimmer. All three of my refugiums are generally 30 to 50 percent of main tank capacity. I personally would recommend either a 5g or, better yet, a 10g tank. For example, our 20g mini-reef uses a 10g refugium. Works great. HTH

just get a 10 or 20 long. I have a thirty long for my 55 reef and I would not want any smaller.
