Question Something strange going on in my 7g!?

Ok today i tested my 7g's water......and i had a few cuttings of that grape caulerpa scott sent me. also there are some snails and a duster in there so i figured since they were all active and showing no signs of stress the tanks param's were fine. yea i know i was being lazy. somehow my no3's shot through the roof! so i did a water change it hasnt dropped it much so im going to continue w/ daily h20 changes until i get it lowered. as i was inspecting my caulerpa i see this white junk all over it! it looks like a spider web is on it! can someone explain what the heck is going on in my tank!? thanks for your help....this is not how i wanted this to be going when i leave in 8days for college.

Worth a shot, cant lose now huh. Prune it back and do a water change or 4, and see where that puts you....?

Cool

I have had Caulerpa go sexual several times (usually at a new moon) and the tank water turned very green. The protien skimmer went bizerk! It clears overnight (always happened just after lights out). Nothing died, tank didn't crash. Caulerpa comes back stronger than ever. I don't worry about it too much now, but it does really overload the protein skimmer. I have to empty my CPR Backpak every half hour for several hours. Don't let it scare you too much.
