I just got him and he is beautiful. I know , I know some are opposed but save the flames as most know I'm no newbee. I just wanted to hear from some reefers who keep them successfully and what are some tips for success. What clown will take to him?Ect........

Heteractis crispa hosts 13 different clownfish species, including Amphiprion clarkii and A. percula. You might want to get a copy of Joyce Wilkerson's book, Clownfishes, now that you have an anemone. It has a lot of very useful information on both anemones and clownfish.

A lot of these that show up in the aquarium trade are bleached. I don't believe that they are supposed to be white. If it is white - try to make sure to feed it well.
"White" usually means a low density of zooxanthellea in the animal's tissues. Zoox is typically muddy brown or green in coloration (depending on the species of zoox) - therefore when it is present in an animal's tissues the animal takes on that color. hth, -Mike

Hey Chris..
You got lights on the 55, or is the Sebae going to live uner the PC's until you get the canopy? Or did you get the canopy and put lights in it already...... |

But Im selling him
You can check out the Sale/trade board for details. As far as keeping it. I bought it as a bright white with purpleish blue tips. Looked great in the store and went downhill shortly after I got it home. As mentioned above white is not good. Not long there after my tankwater turned green I think its called a diatom bloom?(normal after cycling from what I've been told) and the anemone came out brownish with purple tips. Been growing and very lively ever since. I feed it small fish sized chunks of squid every few days. Its grown so much I wonder if Its going to split at some point. You can't really see them in this pic but Ive got a pear of Ocellaris clowns that are a hoot to watch run in and out of the anemone. If I stick my hand into the tank anywhere near the anemone the smaller clown will bite me OOps won't let me post the good picture again here's the blurry one ![]() Last edited by Cinco; 08-14-2001 at 02:05 AM. |
