Mikeman; no need to defend yourself here! Your last post clearly indicates your understanding of the needs of your fish. It sounds like you did a good job caring for the tang and gave it every consideration so you're to be commended for this. Let's wrap it up by saying big fish should have big tanks where they can actively swim and closely replicate their behaviors in the wild. I hope that's fair. When I first started out, I put a small yellow tang in my 56, with the blessing of the lfs (go figure). You live, you learn! So your only 14! I've got a 15 y.o. son so I'll tell you what I tell him.
